Thoughts from the President by Gary Klinger
As
August comes to an end, and the summer season begins to fade as a sweet
memory, we begin to look ahead with enthusiasm, to a new start. The new
school year, filled with all the excitement of seeing old friends,
making new ones, and the joy of learning. At Beth-El, there will be some
changes in the Hebrew School, and the Hebrew High School will have a
change of location. All this information will be forthcoming, in the
next few weeks.
With the
New Year and holiday season quickly upon us we begin to reflect on the
past year, and look ahead to a sweet, healthy, joyous, and fruitful
future. We too, like our children, look forward to seeing old friends,
meeting new congregants, and learning and enjoying all that the Jewish
New Year has to offer. At Beth-El this should be an exciting time. We
have our Scholar in Residence weekend coming up, and our trip to the
“Lower East Side”. Come and join us for all of our events. Look on page
8 in this issue, for more of our upcoming events under Beth-El Fall
Preview.
As for
me, I have begun to reflect on the past year and a half as your
President, and all that the current administration has accomplished.
There is still a great deal to do.
There
has been some changes made in the hours of our office staff, and we are
continuing to make improvements in the office as well. Parlor meetings
are in full swing, and we have run several very successful ones over the
summer, where we have gained important information about what you want
from Beth-El. When it is your turn, please get involved and be part of
this very important project. We have also continued our consolidation
talks with the Farmingdale-Wantagh Jewish Center, and I am encouraged
and hopeful that we can join forces to produce an even better and more
thriving Jewish community for Southeastern Nassau and Southwestern
Suffolk. I look forward to our continued talks and success.
I hope
everyone has had a great and relaxing summer, and look forward to seeing
a much invigorated and enthusiastic congregation this fall.
I wish
you all a joyous, healthy, happy and successful New Year!
L’Shana
Tovah!
As always, respectfully,
Gary Klinger
