Do you know what Hazak is?
If not, let us tell you. Hazak is a social group for Conservative
Jews, ages 55+. The name stands for: Hokhmah-wisdom; Ziknak-maturity;
Kadima-looking ahead. Unlike other Hazak chapters, we have 3-4 events
per calendar year. For some events, Hazak invites all of our
congregational members to join us. There is no membership fee, but
nominal fees per event.
Upcoming events will be in March and May. We hope you can join us and
make the events more social and enjoyable for all of us!
From Sisterhood….
Shalom,
It is hard to believe, but another year of Sisterhood is coming
to an end. We have had some wonderful programs and some programs
that we have had to cancel due to lack of attendance. All of our
fundraisers were quite successful and we thank everyone for their
support.
Our next Sisterhood Board meeting is on Wednesday, June 11.
We will be planning our calendar for next year and would welcome any
suggestions.
We wish Sharon Shorten, President of the newly formed BQLI Region of
Women's League much success. This is a great undertaking and we
are very fortunate to have Sharon at the helm.
You will soon be receiving information for the New Years Journal and we
ask that you fill it out and return it promptly.
All in all, it has been a great year and we hope for your continued
participation in all our upcoming programs for next year. We wish
everyone a safe and enjoyable summer. See you in September!

USY & KADIMA
What a fantastic time we had at this
years Regional Convention.
Held at Kutschers in upstate Monticello May 9th-11th
eleven of our members participated.
Brittany Moskowitz from our chapter was one of the co-chairs and
Zachary Harmin also from our chapter was the senior program chairperson.
Regional and Divisional elections were held and many of our
seniors wept as they realized they were attending their final regional
USY event.
We returned home to conclude our
current year. We attended
the Last Chance Dance in Queens, held a Youth Service at Beth-El and
will finish our program with final dinners for each group.
There will be a special good-bye to our seniors and USY elections
for our chapter offices.
While
youth group has ended for the current year we have already begun
planning for the fall. Even
before we kick off again in early September, USY and Kadima members can
all jump in at Encampment in late August.
This program is one of the finest that youth group has to offer.
From August 20th
through the 28th
kids from all over the Metro New York area come together at Camp Ramah
in the Berkshires for Encampment.
Here we spend our time experiencing in 8 days what it takes most
camps 8 weeks to accomplish.
For more information on Encampment please contact Andrea Moskowitz.
Remember to watch your mail for information regarding
registration and kick off programs for the fall.
Have a
great summer …see you at Encampment 2008

Dear members, There are many ways to help support your temple. One of them is by purchasing “gift cards” at our synagogue office. We have, Waldbaums, Shoprite, Pathmark King Kullen and Kosher Meat Farms in all different denominations. These cards are easy to use and you don’t have to worry about using the entire amount at one time. So, please before you do your shopping stop by our office and purchase these cards. We all spend a lot of money on food and this is a really easy way to help raise money for your temple. Another way you can help is by bringing in your empty ink cartridges and cell phones that you no longer use. We have boxes in the lobby. Also, our parking lot across the street has a clothing drop for gently used clothing or clothing that’s in good shape. So please donate.
