From our Youth Director
Welcome back from the summer break for a
great new year of youth group programs!
The year unofficially started with
almost 20 members of our chapter attending “Encampment 2008” at Camp
Ramah in the Berkshires.
From August 20th to the 28th our members along with the entire Metro NY region
had a fantastic sleep away camp experience.
Our Division “Chazak” also won the
Bible Bowl Challenge and we are all very proud.
We have an exciting new line up of programs for the Fall and look
forward to our opening program on September 7th.
Please make a note of the change in
meeting dates and times.
USY will be meeting on Sundays from
7:30 to 9:00 pm.
This is our program for members in
grades 9-12.
Kadima our program for grades 6-8 will
also be on Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
I would like to introduce our new
youth advisor Scott Haimes.
He will be assisting us with our
groups and is very excited to be coming to join us.
Below is our calendar of upcoming events.
If you are not familiar with our program let me tell you about it.
We offer two programs at Beth-El.
Kadima, which is for children in grades 6-8, it meets on
Sunday evenings from 6 pm to 7:30 pm here at the synagogue in the
youth lounge. In
addition to our regular meetings we participate in divisional and
regional events with other chapters throughout the New York
Metropolitan area. USY
is for our older members open to 9th
through 12th
graders. They meet on
Sunday nights from 7:30 pm to 9 pm also in the youth lounge.
They too attend divisional and regional events and have the
opportunity to go to International Convention.
There are also many summer programs available to our members.
I encourage everyone out there of eligible age to come down
and check out our programs.
This is a great chance to have fun, and create friendships
that will last a lifetime.
